João Mateus

EDUCATION

João Mateus obtained a Master of Science in industrial engineering and management from the NOVA University of Lisbon in 2012. In 2020, João obtained a PhD in operations research and industrial systems design from the University of Ghent after four years of research on Human-Robot collaboration and workplace design.

– Advising on patentability, freedom to operate, infringement and validity of intellectual property rights

– Oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office

– Portfolio management, advice and strategy in the field of intellectual property for large international companies and innovative start-ups and SMEs

– General strategic and legal advice in IP matters

João has expertise in software, industrial systems and mechanics, in particular machine elements and manufacturing methods.

LANGUAGES

João is a native Portuguese speaker with a good knowledge of Dutch. João is also fluent in English and Spanish.
